As an art educator I strive to help instill for all my students a sense of imagination, creativity, empathy and independence in thinking and learning. It is vital to provide students with a safe space to explore and solve problems with their minds and their hands around topics that concern them. Students need to investigate their own experiences to develop their self-identity, without a sense of self, a child will never be able to successfully navigate the world they live in. Art class is not an extra or secondary to core academics, it is a necessity to help children develop the ability to creatively solve problems, express themselves, empathize with their peers, learn from trial and error, and to have a full, robust education. It is with great passion I develop curriculum that is equitable and beneficial for every student who enters my classroom.
