Creating Face Collages Using Exaggeration and Proportion
We start this unit discussing our vocabulary words: exaggeration, proportion, and symmetry. After a presentation about depicting emotion and mood with our facial expressions, students are given head templates and collage packets that contain various facial features that they cut and collage to create a face that is in proportion and a face that uses exaggeration.
Self-Portraits
The last half of this unit has students create a unique self portrait that uses facial expressions and other details to convey a mood of their choice.
